Redevelopment and Local Businesses
There is no excuse not to vote
For far too long town government and local business have been enemies. It is time that our Town government welcomed local businesses as partners in the future of Nags Head. We need to support local businesses in ways that promote our shared vision for the Town.
As Mayor I will:
Create a vision for redevelopment that promotes small and locally owned businesses and encourages the reuse of existing buildings.
Challenge the Planning Board and the Commissioners to be proactive in creating opportunities for redevelopment.
Increase the flexibility for redevelopment of existing properties by reducing parking and lot coverage requirements for buildings that combine commercial and residential uses.
Rebalance the amount of commercially zoned property in the town. Rezone commercial areas where homes predominate to residential, consider changes to promote local business and mixed used development.
